Cirion is a foundation focused on building knowledge and awareness about infectious diseases through science and education. Founded in 2000, it brings together local and international experts to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and develop integrated approaches to disease prevention and management. Its work aims to improve understanding of infectious diseases, including their prevention, epidemiology, pathophysiology and clinical management.

Cirion develops and delivers communication and education programs for different audiences. Its featured initiatives include All Bugs (Allemaal Beestjes), an educational module for general practitioners, and Viruskenner, a program for young people. The foundation also presents research and educational content through projects, news articles and the Medfacts series, covering topics such as emerging viruses and Ebola. Its partnerships and expert network support its wider work, including collaboration with the Wildlife Forensic Academy in South Africa. Cirion also promotes the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and invites public donations to support its activities.
