About Deaflympics
Deaflympics | Lausanne is a renowned brand that caters to deaf athletes competing at an elite international level. With a history dating back to the 1900s, Deaflympics is the second oldest multi-sporting event globally and operates under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) is the independent and self-regulated international sports organization responsible for conducting the Deaflympics.
The ICSD, recognized by the IOC since 1955, oversees a highly organized system of sports activities exclusively aimed at the deaf community. Deaflympics offers a wide range of sports including athletics, basketball, swimming, tennis, ice hockey, and more. In addition to the Deaflympics, the ICSD organizes regional championships, collaborates with other international Deaf Sport Federations, and promotes the development of Deaf sports in developing countries.
The ICSD's core objectives include promoting inclusivity, fostering international cooperation, and advocating for the rights of Deaf athletes. With a commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the empowerment of Deaf individuals, Deaflympics continues to make significant contributions to the global sports system for the Deaf
