Citadel Vault creates inheritance technology for Bitcoin holders and others seeking to pass on digital assets securely. Its air-gapped device combines the 21sats Inheritance Protocol with a guided setup wizard, helping users document their digital estate and prepare heirs to recover it without relying on subscriptions, cloud services, custodians, or other third parties. The system covers 20 categories of digital assets, including wallets, passwords, accounts, and signing devices, and includes legal document frameworks for wills and trusts across 23 jurisdictions.
Users create encrypted offline backups, then distribute access across cards kept in separate locations. When needed, heirs can follow the device’s built-in recovery advisor and printed guide, with support from the company’s team. Citadel Vault is designed to operate without an internet connection and does not store plaintext keys or secrets on the device.
Two configurations are offered: Vault Core and Vault Pro. Both include the device, Vault OS, encrypted storage, recovery cards, scanning tools, and inheritance-planning features. Pro adds expanded card capacity and long-term archival components.
