CITEC es una Organización Sin Fines de Lucro que realiza labores de Investigación y Desarrollo en colaboración con sus miembros, La Autoridad del Canal de Panamá, La Fundación Ciudad del Saber, la Secretaría Nacional de Ciencias, Tecnología e Innovación, La Autoridad Nacional para la Innovación Gubernamental y la Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá en colaboración con Centros de Investigación y Desarrollo y Centros Educativos Internacionales en lás áreas de estudios hídricos, estudios ambientales, sostenibilidad y desarrollo de tecnologías de punta, con un principal enfoque dentro de la Cuenca Hidrográfica del Canal de Panamá.

CITEC is a non-profit organization born out of a collaborative effort led by the Panama Canal, backed by the Technological University of Panama, the National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation, the City of Knowledge Foundation, and the National Authority for Government Innovation.
