Citizendium is a collaborative online platform dedicated to providing free knowledge with a unique twist: contributors are encouraged to use their real names. This approach fosters a congenial and supportive community, distinct from other wikis, emphasizing objectivity and quality in content creation. Citizendium aims to serve as an alternative or supplement to Wikipedia, tackling its limitations by producing articles that are shaped by a modest group of active authors who build relationships and trust.

Users can contribute to a diverse range of topics, and the platform allows for articles to be utilized elsewhere, promoting a broader dissemination of knowledge while ensuring Citizendium retains credit for its original content. The application process to join the Citizendium community is straightforward, inviting anyone passionate about sharing their expertise to participate. Emphasizing civility and accountability, Citizendium is more than just an encyclopedia; it is a growing collective effort to enhance the way information is shared and accessed globally
