CittàClima is an innovative initiative by Legambiente aimed at collecting and analyzing data on extreme climate events across Italy. Through a detailed climate risk map, it highlights the vulnerabilities faced by urban areas, showcasing insights from 1,056 municipalities impacted by 2,134 extreme weather events, including floods and infrastructure disruptions.
Part of the European LIFE+ A_GreeNet project, CittàClima focuses on enhancing the resilience of coastal cities along the Adriatic Sea to climate change. This includes initiatives such as soil recovery, the planting of forests and green areas, and the development of flexible green solutions, all while promoting Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans.
Additionally, CittàClima conducts surveys to understand public perception of climate change impacts, aiming to publish a comprehensive report in March 2025. With educational campaigns and ongoing analysis, CittàClima supports communities in adapting to the challenges posed by climate variability while sharing best practices on environmental stewardship.
