City Farmer is Canada's Office of Urban Agriculture, and it has been in operation for an impressive 45 years. Their website, Urban Agriculture Notes, is a treasure trove of information on urban agriculture, featuring numerous pages dedicated to this topic. Although they launched a new web page called City Farmer News in 2008, the original site will continue to be available due to its valuable resources.
City Farmer offers various classes and courses, including an organic food gardening course that teaches participants how to grow their own vegetables in urban environments. Their comprehensive curriculum covers everything from site selection and design to soil preparation and composting techniques. Additionally, City Farmer runs a Vancouver Regional Compost Hotline to provide assistance with composting.
Their dedication to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices is evident in their emphasis on waterwise gardening, worm composting, and grasscycling. With a wealth of information and resources, City Farmer has established itself as a leading authority in urban agriculture
