CityLAB Berlin is an innovation and participation hub focused on shaping the city’s digital future. It brings together public administration and urban society to develop and test solutions for a more connected, inclusive Berlin, supporting the city’s Smart City and Digital Strategy, “Gemeinsam Digital: Berlin.” Its work spans civic technology, digital administration, social innovation and smart cities.

The organization develops projects and prototypes addressing practical public needs. These include BärGPT, an AI assistant for Berlin’s state administration; Parla, a tool that makes written requests easier to search; and Kiezlabor, which takes CityLAB’s experimental approach into neighborhoods. Other initiatives include Fairgnügen, a website for finding free and discounted offers.

CityLAB Berlin also offers ways for people and organizations to take part, including events, collaborative work and opportunities to develop their own ideas. Its program features conferences, workshops and public activities, while its exhibition at the former Tempelhof Airport invites visitors to explore interactive visions of the city of the future.
