Civitas Pragensis is a Czech registered association founded in 2010, dedicated to reconstructing military and everyday life in Prague during the Hussite Wars of 1419–1434. Through historical reenactment, its members bring the period’s people, customs and material culture to life for audiences in the Czech Republic and abroad. Their demonstrations include infantry formations, historical tactics and shooting, as well as recreated military camps featuring traditional crafts, food preparation, textile production and activities reflecting Prague’s burgher culture.
The group places strong emphasis on historical authenticity, researching clothing, equipment, weapons and camp life through history, archaeology and related disciplines. Members make many garments by hand using known historical methods, and some also publish research and popular history books. Civitas Pragensis takes part in festivals, battle reenactments, museum and educational events, and city celebrations; it also organizes cultural programs, provides activities for private events, and offers historical consultation for projects.
Its members have contributed to television documentaries and films, while photographs of their work have appeared in books and periodicals about the fifteenth century
