Clacton Aero Club is a family-run flying school based at The Airfield in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. Training pilots since 1988, the club offers friendly, one-to-one instruction with a focus on making learning to fly enjoyable and accessible. Its courses include Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and NPPL training, a three-week PPL course, tailwheel conversion, cross-channel checkouts, differences training and licence revalidations. Students can also access aircraft hire, membership, ground exams and flight tests, with the club’s own examiners on site.
For newcomers and gift buyers, Clacton Aero Club offers trial flying lessons in a Cessna 152, led by a qualified instructor. Participants learn basic flight principles and can try simple manoeuvres at the controls; lesson time can count toward a PPL. Gift vouchers and pleasure flights are also available.
The club’s sister company, Classic Wings, provides additional trial lessons, sightseeing flights and experiences in aircraft including the Dragon Rapide, Tiger Moth, T6 Harvard and a two-seat Spitfire. Its Duxford flights include entry to the Imperial War Museum.
