The Yarmouth Clam Festival is a family-friendly summer event in Yarmouth, Maine, presented by the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce. A local clambake when it began in 1965, it has grown into one of Maine’s largest free-admission festivals, welcoming more than 85,000 visitors each year. Held annually on the third Friday in July, the three-day celebration features food, a parade, arts and crafts, carnival rides, a children’s area, music, and other activities.
The festival is more than a seasonal attraction: proceeds support local nonprofits and youth programming, with more than 30 organizations relying on festival earnings to sustain their work. Hundreds of volunteers help bring the event to life, and opportunities are available in areas such as family programming, crafts, food, sponsorships, marketing, and transportation. The festival is funded through sponsorships and vendor and crafter fees, rather than public grants or charitable donations. It is also strengthening its sustainability efforts, building on waste diversion and increased composting and recycling. The 2026 festival is scheduled for July 17–19.
