About Claremont Country Club
Claremont Country Club is a historic golf and recreation club in Oakland, California, founded in 1897. Its course is known as “MacKenzie’s Little Jewel” and is among 15 clubs in the Alister MacKenzie Society with certified MacKenzie course designs. The original nine-hole course opened in 1904, expanded to 18 holes in 1909, and was redesigned by MacKenzie in the late 1920s.
A restoration beginning in 2001 returned much of the course to its 1929 design. The club’s history also includes hosting the 1937 Oakland Open, where Sam Snead won his first professional tournament. Alongside golf, Claremont offers aquatic and fitness facilities, tennis, and clubhouse amenities.
Its facilities include a golf pro shop, kitchen, and locker rooms. The club hosts events and celebrations for members and their families, including golf tournaments and social gatherings. Located at 5295 Broadway Terrace, Claremont brings together a long sporting heritage, distinctive course design, and recreational and social experiences in Oakland
