Classic City Marathon

The Classic City Marathon Association organizes the annual Classic City Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay in Athens, Georgia. Presented by Piedmont Athens Regional and Creature Comforts Brewing Company, the fourth annual event is scheduled for March 20, 2027, with a downtown start and finish. Participants can choose a 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon, or an approximately six-mile leg as part of a four-person relay. The race weekend also features a festival, with packet pickup, accommodation, dining, entertainment, and spectator information available through the organizers.

The association supports runners with free, race-specific training plans and group training runs, and welcomes participants of different backgrounds, experience levels, and paces. Its courses highlight downtown Athens, historic neighborhoods, and community greenways. The organization also works with local schools, students, artists, and musicians on race materials and entertainment, and describes its events as zero-waste while pursuing Council for Responsible Sport certification. In addition to race registration, it offers volunteer and sponsorship opportunities and makes donations to organizations serving the Athens-area community.
