The North Coast Watershed Association (NCWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving watershed health through community-based efforts. Based in Astoria, Oregon, the NCWA works with diverse stakeholders, including watershed councils, to coordinate, fund, and link initiatives that enhance the health of the north coast and Columbia River estuary watersheds. One of their current projects is the North North Fork Klaskanine River Fish Passage Project, which aims to restore fish passage solutions in the area.
Additionally, the NCWA is involved in the exciting Return of the Redds (RREDDS) collaboration. In partnership with local landowners, the forest products industry, state and federal agencies, and nonprofits, the NCWA is focused on revitalizing the Big Creek and Youngs Bay watersheds, specifically the chum salmon populations. By restoring salmon habitat, the NCWA believes that the overall health of the watershed and the communities it serves will improve.
They also offer various opportunities for individuals to get involved, including volunteering, signing up for their newsletter, and staying informed about the latest news and developments. To support their work, the NCWA accepts donations from individuals and businesses, offering both online and planned giving options. Located at 818 Commercial Street, Suite 308 in Astoria, Oregon, you can reach them at 503-468-0408 or via email at northcoastwatershedcouncils@gmail.
