Georgia's Clean Air Force (GCAF) is an initiative established in 1996, focusing on enhancing air quality and protecting public health in response to the Clean Air Act. Collaborating with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, GCAF implements the state's Vehicle Emission Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) Program, conducting approximatively three million vehicle tests annually through a network of over 700 testing stations. Targeting areas with poor air quality, particularly in metro Atlanta's 13 designated counties, GCAF mandates emissions testing for gasoline-powered cars and light-duty trucks from model years 2000 to 2021, with the goal of identifying and repairing heavily polluting vehicles.

Since its inception, the program has successfully identified and repaired over 4. 5 million high-emission vehicles, significantly reducing harmful pollutants in the atmosphere.
