About CollegeOfLPNsHCAsAlberta
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA) serves as the regulatory authority for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Health Care Aides (HCAs) in Alberta, prioritizing public safety and ethical practice within the healthcare sector. Established with a commitment to uphold standards for healthcare professionals, the CLHA offers a comprehensive Public Registry and Employer Verification service, allowing the public to confirm the registration status of LPNs and HCAs. As part of its initiatives, the CLHA provides educational resources, support for complaints and misconduct processes, and maintains information on approved programs for practical nursing and health care aide education.
With the upcoming regulation of HCAs effective February 2, 2026, the CLHA is positioned to further enhance the quality of care within the profession. The organization acknowledges the rich heritage of Treaty 6, 7, and 8 territories and is dedicated to fostering respect for the diverse histories and cultures of all First Peoples in Alberta
