Climbing Adventures

The Australian School of Mountaineering (ASM) is an adventure guiding and training provider based in Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains of Australia. Established in 1981, ASM describes itself as the country’s longest-established and most experienced climbing school and guiding service. Its team includes nationally and internationally qualified climbing guides and instructors, offering experiences and technical instruction for a range of abilities.

ASM’s guided adventures include abseiling, rock climbing, canyoning, mountaineering, snow and ice activities, and wilderness navigation. Courses cover introductory through advanced skills, including abseil and climber rescue, canyon leadership, sport and traditional lead climbing, ski touring, snow camping, survival, and GPS use. The school also offers personal guiding, custom winter adventures, and activities for special groups such as schools, colleges, corporate groups, and the Australian Defence Force.

Operating in the Blue Mountains’ landscape of rainforest, canyons, plateaus, and sandstone crags, ASM focuses on safe, memorable outdoor experiences. The organisation also offers gift cards and publishes Rockclimbing: The Australian Climbing Handbook.
