CLOCC (Clean Oceans through Clean Communities) is a dynamic brand that is committed to tackling the issue of marine plastic pollution. As a community and network-driven program, CLOCC focuses on co-creating innovative solutions to address this global problem.

Supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), CLOCC is a part of the Norwegian government’s development program to reduce marine plastic pollution and microplastics. The program, which came to life in 2018, is an initiative by Avfall Norge with the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) as its implementing partner.

CLOCC adopts an Integrated Sustainable Waste Management framework, involving a highly participatory process where stakeholders collaborate to make decisions and choose systems that cater to their specific needs. Through improved municipal solid waste management, increased recycling, and the management of waste from generation to disposal, CLOCC aims to prevent and significantly reduce marine litter and microplastics pollution.

With a global team consisting of dedicated individuals from Avfall Norge, ISWA, and InSWA, CLOCC strives to achieve healthy societies and a clean environment. By creating sustainable communities, green jobs, and business opportunities in local circular economies, CLOCC is actively working towards its vision.
