Welcome to the Caledonian Maritime Research Trust! We are dedicated to preserving the rich history of Scottish shipbuilding. Our web site serves as a comprehensive database, chronicling the careers of over 40,000 vessels built by Scottish shipyards. But this is just the beginning - our work is ongoing, with plans to include brief histories of each shipbuilder.

Our extensive database is the result of meticulous research conducted by a team of dedicated volunteers who share a passion for Scottish Shipbuilding. Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive and accessible information about these vessels, ensuring their stories are secured for the long term.

We invite you to explore our database and discover the fascinating histories of these ships. While we strive to provide as much detail as possible, please keep in mind that the data may be incomplete in some cases. We encourage you to share your feedback and let us know how we can improve.

If you're interested in joining our team of editors, we would love to have you on board. Together, we can preserve the legacy of Scottish shipbuilding for future generations.
