Modum is an information and heritage project focused on the nature, history, and cultural landscapes of the Modum district in Norway. Its website brings together material about local ecosystems, historic periods, landmarks, and opportunities to explore the area. Visitors can learn about wildlife and plant life, rivers and waterfalls, forests, walking routes, and cultural heritage sites, as well as Modum’s development from prehistoric settlement through the Viking Age, medieval times, industrialization, and the post-war era.

The project explains how resources such as elk, fish, timber, minerals, iron ore, rock formations, and hydropower shaped the community and its relationship with the wider world. It also highlights notable places and features, including Haugfossen, Heggen Church, and historic industrial sites. Recent updates report on archaeological work, geophysical surveys, metal-detecting finds, and research into iron production and settlement history. Modum presents a varied resource for residents, visitors, and anyone interested in local history and nature, and welcomes contributions as its collection continues to grow.
