About Colorado Medical Society
Colorado Medical Society (CMS) is the largest physician-based organization in Colorado, with over 6,700 members across all specialties and employment settings. Established in 1871, CMS champions healthcare issues that enhance patient care, promote physician professional satisfaction, and create healthier communities in Colorado. As a Colorado nonprofit 501(c)(6) corporation, CMS operates with 13 full-time staff members.
CMS is deeply committed to improving Colorado's healthcare environment for physicians and the patients they serve. They have played a pivotal role in the establishment and support of key Colorado institutions such as COPIC, Center for Personalized Education for Professionals (CPEP), and Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP). Additionally, CMS created the CMS Education Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving Colorado medical students.
To further its mission, CMS also manages the nonpartisan political action committee, COMPAC, which aims to support and elect candidates who prioritize the interests of physicians and patients at the state level. Another initiative is the CMS Small Donor Committee, which works towards electing candidates who actively support the preservation of Colorado's stable tort environment. With their focus on improving healthcare outcomes and advocating for physicians, CMS continues to be a driving force in Colorado's medical community
