Children’s Medical Services (CMS) is a program area within the Florida Department of Health’s Division of Children’s Medical Services. It brings together statewide services for children with special health care needs, with care centered on families and delivered through networks of specially qualified doctors, nurses, and other health professionals. Its programs support children and young adults with chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions through the Title V Program.
Newborn Screening checks for 37 core conditions and may identify 23 additional secondary conditions, helping enable early detection and treatment. Early Steps provides intervention for eligible infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months who have, or may be at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities, while supporting families and caregivers. Medical Foster Care helps children with complex medical conditions receive care in a family setting and offers training and support to foster parents.
The Safety Net Program may help pay for medically necessary services for children with serious conditions who lack access to other coverage
