About CMWI
CMWI, the Canadian Muslim Women Institute, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2006 with the mission to empower women and promote their well-being in Canadian society. CMWI aims to foster sound emotional health, stability, and personal development in order to assist newcomers to Canada during their settlement period. CMWI offers a range of programs and services designed to cater to the unique needs of women, whether they are newcomers or long-time residents.
These programs include employment programs, family programs, financial empowerment programs, food programs, health and wellness programs, and interpretation and translation services. One notable program is The Cutting Edge, a social enterprise that provides sewing machine operator training, offering a platform for newcomer women to launch their careers in Winnipeg's sewing industry. Additionally, CMWI provides support through drop-in English conversation groups, peer support groups, and on-site childcare services.
Through its initiatives and services, CMWI helps empower women, families, and communities, supporting their self-sufficiency and financial independence. Join CMWI in making a positive impact by contributing as a volunteer or through donations
