Centro Norton de Matos (CNM) is a community-focused association in Coimbra, Portugal, founded on 10 August 1951. Its origins lie in a local citizens’ initiative to serve the residents of the Bairro Marechal Carmona, now known as Bairro Norton de Matos. Today, CNM brings together cultural, educational, sporting and community activities through its academies of music, gymnastics and dance, alongside its wider sports and culture programme.
Its activities include swimming and rhythmic gymnastics, and the programme also features adult swimming and water aerobics. The centre hosts performances, festivals, competitions and seasonal events, with galleries showcasing its community life. In partnership with Synlab Portugal, CNM also provides a clinical sample collection point at its premises, open to members and the general public on weekdays from 8 a.
m. to noon. This service renews the site’s longstanding connection with local healthcare and supports the association’s social mission, including assistance to residents, particularly older people.
CNM continues to serve its neighbourhood through a broad mix of recreation, culture and community services
