The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is the governing body for more than 180,000 nurses in Ontario, Canada. Recognized internationally as a leader in professional regulation, we protect the public interest by: •setting standards for nursing practice; •establishing the requirements for becoming a nurse; •administering a program that helps nurses maintain competence; and, •enforcing the standards of practice and conduct. We also support nursing regulation in the public interest by: •participating in the provincial legislative process; and, •sharing statistical information about Ontario's nurses.
