CNPF

The Centre National de la Propriété Forestière (CNPF) is a French public organisation dedicated to supporting the sustainable management of private forests. It works with forest owners, managers, businesses, institutions, teachers and others interested in forests, through regional centres and specialist services. Its guidance covers forest planning, woodland management, biodiversity, climate adaptation, forest health, wildfire risk, timber sales and the legal and tax issues affecting forest owners.

The CNPF provides practical tools and technical resources, including forest-diagnostic methods, biodiversity indicators, climate-related decision-support tools and guidance on tree species and silvicultural approaches. Through its IDF research and development institute, it also conducts and shares research, supports innovation and participates in European and international projects. Owners and professionals can access training, events, publications, regional information and a specialist library.

The organisation’s work also includes forest carbon initiatives, water protection, wildlife balance and responses to forest disease and other risks. Overall, the CNPF combines advice, education, research and project support to help private forest stakeholders manage woodlands sustainably and respond to changing environmental conditions
