About CNPS SCV
The Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is a nonprofit organization serving Santa Clara County and southern San Mateo County. Founded in 1972, the chapter supports CNPS’s mission to protect California’s native plants and natural habitats through science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy. Its programs connect members and the public with the region’s native flora and practical ways to support biodiversity.
The chapter offers field trips, plant identification and photography activities, lectures, workshops, and educational presentations, with some talks available online through Zoom or YouTube. Members and visitors can take part in restoration workdays, native garden projects, and conservation efforts focused on local sites, rare plants, and invasive species. Regular seed and cutting exchanges help participants bring native plants into their own gardens, while the chapter’s online nursery store sells plants and related items, with delivery and pickup available. Seasonal offerings include plant sales, a wildflower show, a native horticultural symposium, and the Growing Natives Garden Tour.
