CO2DataShare is an innovative online portal launched in January 2020 by the CO2 Storage Data Consortium, aimed at enhancing the understanding and implementation of CO2 storage in deep geological formations. The platform specializes in sharing high-quality reference datasets derived from pioneering CO2 storage projects, including pilot, demonstration, and industry-scale initiatives. By providing these valuable resources, CO2DataShare facilitates essential research and development, which is crucial for improving confidence in CO2 storage as a viable greenhouse gas control strategy.

The platform prioritizes accessibility, allowing users to freely download datasets under an open license, ensuring that all documentation and metadata are openly available. CO2DataShare works closely with data providers to clarify access rights and licensing terms, promoting a collaborative approach to data sharing. This initiative is part of a broader effort to build capacity, reduce costs, and minimize uncertainties associated with CO2 storage, ultimately contributing to more effective greenhouse gas management solutions.
