CO2 Metal Roadmap is a Portuguese initiative designed to accelerate decarbonisation across the electromechanical sector. Promoted jointly by ANEME, the National Association of Metallurgical and Electromechanical Companies, and AIDA CCI, the Aveiro District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the project brings businesses together around shared commitments to reduce emissions and support carbon compensation and sequestration. It is supported by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds.
The initiative helps companies identify practical, sector-specific pathways towards carbon neutrality, drawing on innovative and effective technologies while integrating ecological transition and digital transformation into business strategies. Its online CO2 Metal Roadmap calculator enables users to assess their company’s operations, estimate carbon emissions and evaluate opportunities for decarbonisation, supporting informed decisions about suitable practices and measures.
The project also offers workshops, seminars and training or capacity-building activities to share knowledge and strengthen companies’ capabilities. Its work aligns with Portugal’s Carbon Neutrality Roadmap 2050 and National Energy and Climate Plan 2030, contributing to a greener, more competitive and resilient electromechanical sector.
