Coad Aeronautics operates Shafer Field (IL48), a private airfield in Saint Jacob, Illinois, serving pilots and the general aviation community. Located about two miles south of Interstate 70, near Illinois Route 4, the historic airfield offers facilities and services for aircraft owners, visitors, and aspiring pilots. Its amenities include self-service 100LL AvGas, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, affordable T-hangar rentals, aircraft storage, and tie-downs.
Visitors can also find restrooms, light refreshments, souvenirs, and a flight club space for meeting and relaxing before or after a flight. Coad Aeronautics presents Shafer Field as a welcoming place to experience general aviation and offers information about owning buildings and runway space as an option for pilots seeking value. Because Shafer Field is private, pilots must request permission to land at least one week in advance by email.
Coad Aeronautics is based at 9810 Beacon Street in Saint Jacob and can be contacted by phone or email for questions about its services and facilities
