Coal Creek

Coal Creek Golf Resort is a golf and recreation destination near Ryley, Alberta, created through the reclamation of land shaped by more than a century of coal mining. The site’s transformation into a golf resort reflects the work of the Nordby family, who own and operate the current mine and led the reclamation project. The resort invites golfers to enjoy a dynamic, challenging course known for excellent playing conditions and Alberta’s only black sand traps, set amid distinctive scenery.

Visitors can book nine- or 18-hole rounds, with green fees that include a golf cart, as well as twilight, senior, and junior rates. The resort also offers multi-round packages, corporate packages, a driving range, and weekday specials. Regular events include a Wednesday ladies’ night and a Thursday men’s night, each featuring golf, a cart, prizes, and a meal. Tee times are booked online, and the resort accepts tournament inquiries. For longer stays, guests can reserve spacious RV lots at the on-site RV park.
