Coalition for Patient Rights

The National Coalition for Patient Rights is a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation organized as a social welfare organization. Its founding member is Compassion Center. The Coalition’s stated priorities include patient education, advocacy for regulatory change, highlighting shortcomings in the current system, improving the treatment environment, safeguarding the use of new technologies, and advocating to deschedule cannabis.

The Coalition is undergoing a reorganization ratified by its Stewardship Council on October 23, 2026. During this period, management is assigned to MSOplus, working with Compassion Center. The Coalition’s legislative advocacy for the 2027 state sessions continues through authorized individuals under interim letters of authority, while new programs, events, sponsorships, partnerships, and fundraising solicitations are paused. Legal and contractual obligations continue to be met, and the Coalition’s mission, name, and campaigns are being preserved for its reorganized structure.

Former team members, volunteers, and others interested in serving can register through Compassion Center’s pathway. Vendors, regulators, funders, and media can also submit inquiries there. The website is expected to return when reorganization is complete.
