About CoARA
CoARA, the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment, is a prominent collective of over 800 organizations dedicated to transforming the evaluation methods for research, researchers, and research organizations. The coalition focuses on shifting away from traditional publication-based metrics, such as citation counts, towards a broader recognition of diverse contributions and qualitative assessments, which include essential peer reviews.
Founded on principles outlined in the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment published in July 2022, CoARA aims to facilitate systematic reform through collaborative action and knowledge exchange among its members. Organizations can join CoARA as either signatories or full members, allowing them to engage in governance and decision-making processes. Membership provides access to resources such as working groups, support for early reformers, and innovative solutions to enhance assessment practices.
CoARA is committed to fostering a more inclusive and impactful research ecosystem, paving the way for a healthier future for the global research community. Join CoARA in its mission to redefine research assessment for sustainable growth and quality enhancement.
