About Coastal Art Therapy Services
Coastal Art Therapy Services is dedicated to increasing accessibility to creativity in mental health in the Hampton Roads community. Specializing in art therapy and evidence-based counseling, we help clients heal from life’s challenges. Our practice values genuine, inclusive, and sustainable clinical practice supported by research.
We aim to be the central hub for effective creative arts therapists in the Hampton Roads area. Lisa C. Thomas, LPC, ATR-BC, founded Coastal Art Therapy Services and has a humanistic approach to the therapeutic relationship.
Her specialization in trauma- and neuroscience-informed art psychotherapy and counseling, as well as her training in DBT and CPT approaches, facilitates genuine connections with clients and aids in their progress in treatment. Lisa brings a unique understanding of brain-behavior relationships in the context of addiction and drug dependence, thanks to her background in neuroscience. With a BS in Physiology and Neuroscience and Psychology and an MS in Art Therapy and Counseling, she is committed to using art therapy through a neuroscience-informed lens to help clients heal.
