Conservación de la Biodiversidad del Usumacinta A.C. (COBIUS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 to support biodiversity conservation in the Usumacinta River Basin and southeastern Mexico. Based in Balancán, Tabasco, it brings together professionals from different disciplines and works with rural communities, universities, research institutions, and conservation agencies. Its approach emphasizes practical research and community collaboration, treating conservation as a shared process rather than an imposed obligation.

COBIUS works to protect terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, restore ecological balance, and promote sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations. Its activities include biological monitoring, species and habitat conservation, restoration, environmental research, community training, and technical advice on establishing Wildlife Management Units. The organization has supported conservation initiatives for species such as the black howler monkey, manatee, and Mexican royal palm, and has implemented projects across protected natural areas. It also contributes to conservation planning, workshops, publications, and public outreach.
