Cochise County Corral of the Westerners is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and legends of the American Frontier and Wild West through fellowship, learning, and entertaining programs. Based in Tombstone, Arizona, the Corral meets at historic Schieffelin Hall, a theater built in 1881. Its monthly “Campfires” welcome the public for presentations on Western history, along with cowboy poetry, book and article reviews, and announcements of upcoming activities.
Members also organize “Trail Rides”—usually four visits a year to historic sites, museums, backcountry locations, and events featuring living historians. The Corral publishes the Fremont Street Mail, a monthly newsletter covering meetings, outings, and items of local interest, and the Border Vidette, a semiannual journal of historical articles. Its Running Iron collection features member and guest stories and cowboy poetry inspired by the Southwest borderlands. Books and publications are available through Amazon and Corral members. The group is part of Westerners International, a worldwide network devoted to the study and enjoyment of Western history.
