About CocoaSoils
CocoaSoils is a groundbreaking initiative focused on the sustainable intensification of cocoa production in West Africa. By addressing the key challenges faced by cocoa farmers, such as poor soil fertility and inadequate crop nutrition knowledge, CocoaSoils aims to improve productivity without resorting to deforestation. Through the Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) approach, which combines innovative farming techniques with targeted fertilizer applications and locally sourced nutrients, the program is leading the way in creating a more sustainable cocoa sector.
Working closely with a network of international and national research institutions, CocoaSoils is at the forefront of research and development in the cocoa industry. Supported by funding from NORAD and led by IITA and WUR, CocoaSoils is driving positive change for cocoa farmers and the environment.
