About Codex Polaris
Codex Polaris is a book artist group established in 2013 and based in Bergen, Norway. Run by visual artists Rita Marhaug, Imi Maufe and Randi Annie Strand, the collective focuses on the artist’s book as a unique, handmade work of art. Its purpose is to create opportunities and exhibition platforms for artists working with books in Norway and across the Nordic region, connecting local practice with international perspectives.
The group organises exhibitions, initiates networking and exchange projects, and supports the production of texts about artist books. It also invites guest curators and organisers to contribute to collaborative projects. Its work includes Posted/Unposted, the Nordic Letterpress Collaboration, Bibliotek Nordica, Norske Bøker and Sigla-Binda, an exchange involving ten artists from Iceland and Norway. Other projects include Codex Nordica, presented at the Codex Book Art Fair in the United States in 2019; Rom for Bøker, an exhibition at Kristiansand Kunsthall; and Smak av Bøker, a touring exhibition of large-scale artist books. Codex Polaris also participates in international book art fairs.
