The Centers of Excellence grow and sustain Washington State’s economic advantage through statewide leadership. Each Center focuses on a targeted industry that drives the state’s economy and is built upon a reputation for fast, flexible, quality education and training programs. Centers are guided by industry representatives to lead collaborative and coordinated statewide education and training efforts to build a competitive workforce in a global economy. VISION The Washington Centers of Excellence shall serve as a local, national, and global leader in developing model partnerships among business, industry, education, labor, and government for the purpose of supporting workforce development and enhancing economic vitality. MISSION The Center of Excellence for Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing convenes and collaborates with industry, labor, and education partners to build Washington’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing workforce. KEY ROLES OF THE CENTERS INCLUDE: -Build a competitive workforce for driver industries. -Maintain an institutional reputation for innovation and responsive education and training delivery to their targeted industry. -Act as a broker of information and resources related to their targeted industry for industry representatives, community-based organizations, economic development organizations, community and technical colleges, secondary education institutions, and four-year colleges and universities. -Translate industry research into best practices. -Provide system coordination, coaching, and mentoring to assist in building seamless educational and work-related systems.

About Center of Excellence for Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing
The Center of Excellence for Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing is a leading institution in Washington state that is dedicated to fostering a highly skilled workforce in the aerospace and manufacturing industries. As a liaison between industry, labor, and education, the Center works tirelessly to create a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment that supports the state's economy and Washington families. Since its establishment in 2004, the Center has played a pivotal role in overseeing federal grants for composites, aerospace, and mechatronics across the state.
Its former Executive Director, Mary Kaye Bredeson, retired in 2020 after 17 years of exemplary service, and the Center welcomed Jason Petrait as the new Executive Director in 2021. Located in Everett Community College's aviation department, the Center of Excellence is recognized as a state-wide leader in training future aircraft maintenance and avionics technicians. Visitors are welcomed to explore their offices and aircraft hangar, conveniently located across from the new Paine Field terminal.
The Center also boasts an Advisory Board consisting of industry experts who work collaboratively towards shared goals.
