About COES
COES, the Center for the Study of Conflict and Social Cohesion, is a Chilean research center based at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Chile in Ñuñoa, Santiago. It conducts interdisciplinary scientific research on social conflict and cohesion, aiming to create public goods that increase the contribution of knowledge to society’s development and well-being. Its work includes the Chilean Longitudinal Social Study (ELSOC), which offers survey data for download, and observatories focused on labor strikes, conflicts, social cohesion, and inequalities.
COES also shares research through publications, including articles and books, and communicates findings through news, notes, scientific and public outreach events, and a newsletter. The center supports postdoctoral researchers and trains students as part of its research and educational activities. Its website features information about its mission, vision, leadership team, and annual reports in Spanish and English.
