About Cofgar
CofGâr is Carmarthenshire County Council’s museums and arts service, bringing together five museums that explore the county’s history, culture, people and creative heritage. Its venues include Carmarthenshire Museum in Abergwili, where visitors can discover local stories in a historic palace and gardens; the Dylan Thomas Boathouse in Laugharne, the poet’s final home, with displays, a tearoom, gift shop and writing shed; Parc Howard Museum, which presents Llanelli’s industrial past and local pottery; and the family-friendly Museum of Land Speed, dedicated to Pendine Sands and its record-breaking history. The historic Kidwelly Tinplate Works is also part of CofGâr, though it is currently closed to the public while development plans progress.
Across its museums, CofGâr offers exhibitions, collection access and opportunities for research, alongside facilitated education sessions, self-guided visits and loan boxes for learning groups. Visitors can also hire selected venues for events and enjoy the Bishop’s Park and gardens as restoration work continues. CofGâr shares news, events and practical visitor information through its website and social media
