On the USGenWeb Project you'll find a well organized effort to place genealogy materials on the Internet. This project is supported by hundreds of volunteers all across the county. The system is organized by states, and counties with each county having a coordinator responsible for maintaining a site of resources which are available for that county. You'll also find archives of genealogy records, also organized by state and county. The COGenWeb Project is an outgrowth of this effort. If the county in which you are interested does not have a page and you wish to participate, please contact us. Volunteers are needed in all phases of the project including creating and maintaining home pages, and organizing archives submitted by volunteers and transcribing public records for inclusion in our archives.

About COGenWeb
The COGenWeb Project is a volunteer-run genealogy initiative and member of the USGenWeb Project, providing free online resources for people researching Colorado ancestors and family history. It serves as a gateway to genealogy websites for Colorado’s counties, where local coordinators maintain information and research materials. The site also offers searchable resources, research aids, historical information, and access to archives of genealogical records organized by state and county.
Its materials support research into Colorado’s counties, communities, and past, including public records and other historical data contributed or transcribed by volunteers. Visitors can explore county pages, use the site’s search tools, and learn about Colorado’s territorial formation, statehood, and geography. The project welcomes corrections, updates, additions, and new volunteers. Participants may help create or maintain county websites, organize submitted archive materials, or transcribe public records for inclusion in the archives. Through its coordinated network and community contributions, COGenWeb helps preserve historical information and connect families with their Colorado roots. The site’s information is intended for personal use; commercial use requires prior permission.
