Columbia House Garden

Columbia House Healing Garden is a community-supported therapeutic garden beside Columbia House, Invermere’s long-term care home in British Columbia. Created to improve the daily experiences and quality of life of long-term care residents, the garden offers a peaceful outdoor setting for residents, families, staff, and community members to spend time in nature. Its two acres provide opportunities for relaxation and sensory enrichment, while fostering connection and supporting residents’ wellbeing.

The garden is an initiative of the Columbia House Enhancement Society (CHES), established in April 2017 from Columbia House’s Family Council. Working alongside Columbia House and Interior Health, the society develops projects that enhance residents’ lives and support their families. The Healing Garden was made possible through support from Interior Health and donors, and the society continues to invite contributions to help maintain and grow this welcoming space. Visitors can learn about the garden, its history, and ways to experience it, while supporters can donate, contribute to the endowment fund, or follow news and events through the organization’s website.
