Colansa

Colansa, the Latin American and Caribbean Community for Nutrition and Health, is a regional network of organizations and professionals working to improve nutrition, health, and food systems. It promotes food systems that are healthy, sustainable, equitable, and inclusive through collaborative research, policy advocacy, and capacity building. Colansa works with governments and other organizations to advance policies that make nutritious food accessible while supporting sustainable agriculture. It also gathers and shares evidence on effective interventions and provides training and support for researchers, policymakers, and civil society groups.

Its four specialist hubs focus on front-of-package labeling for industrialized foods and beverages, industry interference in food and nutrition policy, fiscal and economic policies, and gender and intersectionality. Across its work, Colansa promotes gender equity and women’s equal participation throughout food systems, while addressing barriers faced by women and marginalized communities. The network also produces technical resources, organizes events and training, and offers grants, including funding opportunities for students and young researchers.
