O Colégio Internato Claret nasce de um profundo e maturado discernimento que nasceu da necessidade que a Província Portuguesa dos Missionários Claretianos sentiu de um desdobramento entre as duas realidades já existentes: a oferta financiada pelo Estado e a oferta privada. Assim, foi decidida a separação e criação de um novo estabelecimento de ensino destinado a acolher apenas os alunos do ensino privado, clarificando e melhorando a situação existente. A sua designação é Colégio Internato Claret, em honra do fundador da Congregação, Santo António Maria Claret. Este Colégio, sendo uma nova entidade, assume integralmente a tradição educativa do CIC, o que seria de prever, dado que tem o mesmo proprietário, a Província Portuguesa da Congregação dos Missionários do Coração de Maria. A nova marca é propriedade do Instituto de Educação CIC.
