Collaborative for Children

Collaborative for Children is a nonprofit organization working to improve early childhood education and care across Greater Houston. Its mission is to strengthen learning outcomes by supporting the people who shape children’s earliest experiences: educators, families, and child care providers. The organization focuses on school readiness, workforce development, and long-term community impact, helping children build skills for lifelong learning and future success.

For educators, Collaborative for Children offers professional development, provider training, curriculum support, and quality-improvement resources. Its 125 Centers of Excellence help child care centers strengthen early education practices, while business development and operational guidance support more sustainable providers. Families can access child care referrals, Parents as Teachers, parent education, activities, and practical resources on topics such as transitions, sleep, special needs, and early childhood intervention. The organization also offers community programs, including Collab-Lab’s free dual-generation learning in several North Houston communities, and works with Pre-K partnerships. Serving the Houston-Galveston region, Collaborative for Children connects local communities with programs and services designed to give young children a stronger start and expand their opportunities.
