About Collecteurs
Collecteurs is the world's first collective digital museum, also known as the Museum of Private Collections. Developed at the New Museum's cultural incubator, Collecteurs aims to keep the art world public and accessible to all. With a platform that connects over 4,000 accessioned collections, 20,000 users, and 45,000+ artworks across 6 continents, Collecteurs empowers its community to share the art they see, love, and own without any restrictions or tickets required.
Collecteurs offers a range of services to fulfill its mission. Through digital exhibitions, curated in collaboration with various institutions, curators, and collectors, users can engage in dialogue and gain insightful context. Collecteurs also serves as a trusted source of information, sharing editorial content and social platforms that attract nearly 1,000,000 art enthusiasts.
Additionally, Collecteurs provides practical art education through Courses and 1-on-1 Mentorship Sessions, taught by established artists and academics, to help navigate the art world. Furthermore, Collecteurs is committed to evolving the path to acquisition through CollecteursX, which utilizes blockchain technology to redefine collecting and ensure fair distribution of profits. The platform has already placed $102,160 into the hands of artists and their supporting communities.
At the core of Collecteurs' mission is the belief that art should be accessible to everyone. By functioning as a digitally crowdsourced museum, Collecteurs allows anyone to view, discuss, curate, and archive its collection of 45,000 artworks online for free. It aims to break through the barriers of cost-prohibitive education programs, institutionalized privilege, and systemic class barriers that often limit access to the art world.
Collecteurs is not just a museum; it has evolved into a home—a home for information, education, and acquisition. The platform welcomes collectors, artists, curators, art workers, galleries, and anyone who seeks inspiration from art. It prioritizes the public interest, ethical collecting practices, and the safety and privacy of user data.
Collecteurs collaborates solely with value-aligned partners and supports activists in the art world, highlighting progressive voices and advocating for positive change. To ensure sustainability, Collecteurs generates revenue primarily through service fees, such as those on CollecteursX and the Course Archive Add-on. These fees enable the platform to continue providing free access to its core services.
Collecteurs is committed to maintaining its independence and integrity and will never sell user data or accept hostile investment. The team behind Collecteurs is spread across New York, Istanbul, Amsterdam, London, and San Francisco. The platform's logo design is by Lemon Yellow, and its illustrations are created by Berke Yazıcıoğlu.
Collecteurs proudly holds the copyright to The Museum of Private Collections and all its content. Join Collecteurs to explore a world of art, ideas, and stories that are meant to be shared. The door is open, and everyone is welcome to participate in this digital home for art enthusiasts.
