The Colmar Pocket Experience is a guided World War II history tour led by Malcolm Waddell and his wife, Birgit, in the Colmar and Breisach region of Germany. Developed by Malcolm, who has lived in Breisach for 20 years, the tour brings the history of the Colmar Pocket campaign to life through battlefield visits, personal stories and historical context.
Guests can explore sites connected to the U.S. Third Infantry Division and Audie Murphy, including monuments and memorials, and learn about the experiences of soldiers and civilians. Tours may include period maps and can be tailored to visitors’ interests, schedules and family-history research. The experience is suited to descendants of WWII servicemen, military history enthusiasts, researchers, educators, study groups and visitors to the region, including Rhine river cruise passengers.
The company offers private guided and educational tours in English, with flexible timing and pick-up arrangements available by prior agreement. Malcolm and Birgit aim to preserve the memory of the WWII generation through knowledgeable, considerate storytelling and visits to the places where these events unfolded.
