Colonels Come Back, LLC is a grassroots organization working to bring professional basketball back to Louisville by promoting the return of the Kentucky Colonels. Its campaign presents a new team as an opportunity for Louisville, Kentucky, and Southern Indiana, and invites fans and community members to support the effort.
The organization highlights the Colonels’ history and achievements, including their 1975 American Basketball Association championship and a victory over that season’s NBA champions in a game promoted as the “Super Bowl of Basketball.” It also notes the team’s strong record in the ABA and its winning record against NBA teams in interleague play, while advocating for recognition of the Colonels’ legacy.
Colonels Come Back promotes its vision through meetings, interviews, press outreach, social media, and other advocacy. Supporters can follow its activity on Twitter, subscribe to email updates about involvement, games, and special events, or contact the organization to get involved. The group also welcomes messages from people who share its interest in the Colonels and professional basketball in Louisville.
