Colorado 811

Colorado 811 helps protect people and underground public utilities by connecting excavators and residents with utility locating services before digging. Serving all 64 Colorado counties, the organization provides a free service that allows users to request the location of public utility lines, including gas, electric, water, sewer, and internet infrastructure. Requests can be submitted online at any time or by calling 811, and users can track tickets and view utility owner responses through its website.

Colorado 811 supports professional excavators, homeowners, and utility owners with tailored online resources. These include ticket submission and status tools, account and response services, compliance information, educational materials, and damage prevention guidance. The organization also offers a digital learning academy and hosts events, training sessions, and opportunities for industry and community engagement.

Colorado 811 advises contacting 811 at least three full business days before digging, waiting for responses, respecting utility markings, and using extra caution near marked lines. Its services address public utilities only; privately owned utilities are not included.
